The Existing Frame
At my first visit for a quote, i stood on the deck. and went whoa!! The client said Yeahhhhhh??? can we save her?
i wasn't sure. After a little investigation i realised why the deck was sagging. A total lack of bearers. 90 x 45 mm Joists spanning 2000 mm. Over 2 x the max span.
The Job
Remove all decking boards, install new bearers, Triple grip every intersection (post - bearer - joist) install new merbau 90 x 19 mm decking boards on a 45 degree angle to the joists. The results were beautiful. Happy Clients!
